Independent Distributors Can Now List In-Stock Inventory on OEMsecrets.com

Independent Distributors Can Now List In-Stock Inventory on OEMsecrets.com

For two years, OEMsecrets have only approved franchised distributors to list inventory on the website. After building up one of the largest online databases for electronics professionals to find and buy parts online from franchised distributors, OEMsecrets removed the log in and made the site 100% FREE for anyone to use.

OEMsecrets' focus is on creating greater value for buyers and engineers alike. Their team surveyed the 3500 OEMs who had previously signed up for membership on the website enquiring about independent distributors and approximately 95% of respondents stated that they would like to see independent distributors listing in-stock inventory on the website.

Following the overwhelming response, OEMsecrets made the decision to transform their business model and welcome independent distributors onto the website to post their inventory. For further exposure, OEMsecrets have also split the search results screen so it displays both the franchised and non-franchised distributors inventory separately. There are no distributors in China listed on the website and all inventory is in-stock only in attempt to solve the counterfeit epidemic in the supply chain.

Buyers and engineers now expect a certain level of online service such with the shopping cart links and online buying facilities from franchised distributors. However, independent distributors are swiftly adapting to change, with more and more emerging with e-commerce facilities on their sites. This is highlighted by independent distributors such as TME showing shopping carts on OEMsecrets. Independent distributors with the stock actually on their shelves offer just as much value as franchised distributors as they are transforming the sales strategies to an online focus.

With live pricing and inventory levels from the industries largest franchised and independent distributors, purchasing professionals can drive down the costs of builds through swiftly locating electronic components on OEMsecrets. Furthermore, after finding the required parts, the buyer then has the capability of searching for the price needed to secure the order. This is made easy though shopping cart facilities on OEMsecrets which send the part directly into the distributors shopping cart ready for order.

OEMsecrets have listened to the major distributors and thousands of buyers from large OEM's across the globe, and have developed a price comparison website where users can see millions of lines of inventory from all the major distributors with up to date stock levels and pricing. OEMsecrets are still developing the site further so the user will eventually be able to tailor the site to suit their specific requirements. Users will be able to send multiple requests to several distributors with just a few simple clicks. They will also be able to price thousands of items in just a few minutes using the BOM Machine, a tool that enables the user to upload their list of required items: http://www.oemsecrets.com/bommachine.php. The tool then checks the items with the major distributors and returns the results with pricing and stock levels. The user can even price up the whole BOM in one currency, auto-select cheapest quote and submit multiple parts and quantities into the distributors shopping cart for order, saving hours of work.

With over 13 millions line items of inventory listed from the industries most reputable franchised and independent distributors, OEMsecrets is generating a reputation as one of the fastest growing component sourcing websites online.

OEM Secrets spells the end of “Dead End Sourcing"

OEM Secrets spells the end of “Dead End Sourcing”

We have all done it. We search for a part number on a component sourcing website and nothing comes up.
Infact on a number of occasions, many buyers will re-enter the part number just incase there was a mistake / typo.
OEM Secrets have created a service behind the service whereby when the dreaded “No Results Found” message comes up, there is now a further option.

Oem Secrets have been working in partnership with many independent distributors over the last few years that offer a wider database of sourcing capabilities.
Each distributor has a unique line card. The OEM Secrets team will match any enquiry up with a supplier that specializes in sourcing that particular manufacturer.
With a simple 6 box form and the click of a button you can be contacted with a quote by a approved supplier from the OEM Secrets team.
This ensures that all obsolete and hard to find electronic component requirements can now be catered for.

This is typical of a forward thinking website that is owned and run by individuals that have actually sourced electronic components themselves and know the pit falls and frustrations of a parts search engine returning zero results.

Visit www.oemsecrets.com today to source all of your active, passive, obsolete and electromechanical electronic component requirements.

OEMsecrets.com Working in Concert with DAG (Distributors Advisory Group)

In response to the increased news relating to counterfeit components, OEMsecrets is working in concert with DAG (Distributors Advisory Group) to inform our membership of the latest developments regarding counterfeit electronics.

The mission of DAG is to develop credible certification processes that assure national and international supply chain integrity.  Working along with the SAE G-19, DAG has positioned itself to work with international programs under the IEC (International Electro-technical Commission)

Currently we are taking applications for membership to DAG.  A FREE conference call is scheduled for September 6th 10AM EST.    On this call will be Distributors, Brokers, Test Labs and subject matter experts.  The agenda of the call is to introduce DAG, it’s mission, and to update the latest developments in the world of counterfeit electronic avoidance, detection, mitigation, and disposition.  If you would like to be invited to participate in this conference call, please email Christina.clark@ecccorp.org or call her at: 541.847.0644.

Hurricane Isaac halts New Orleans military conference, but not anti-counterfeit Group, DAG

What is the number one supply chain problem in our military today? According to Senator Levin, Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, fake electronics are making their way into use by "critical" military systems, including Navy helicopters and the Air Force's newest cargo planes. A year- long investigation conducted by the Committee concluded that more than one million suspected counterfeit parts are present in the Department of Defense's supply chain. "The failure of a single electronic part can leave a soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine vulnerable at the worst possible time," the report says.

The final report, published on May 21, 2012, found that independent distributors supply most problem parts and counterfeiters exploit testing vulnerabilities. Moreover, it concluded that industry reporting to the Department of Defense and criminal authorities was not up to expectations, leaving the system with a lack of realistic solutions. Hearing the Senate’s call for solutions, Mr. Todd Kramer, CEO of Secure Components and Mr. Stanley H. Salot Jr., president of the non-profit ECC Corporation formed the USNC/IECQ Distributors Advisory Group (DAG) in June 2012. DAG brings together representatives from distributors, brokers, test labs and other organizations providing parts to the defense avionics and aerospace sectors.

Under the USNC/IECQ, the DAG has developed and is implementing a set of industry-based international distributor certification requirements for counterfeit mitigation and avoidance. This includes accredited certification bodies, assessors and company certifications. Moreover, DAG is creating international consensus programs designed to:
  • Demonstrate compliance with the Senate Committee’s directives on counterfeit avoidance, detection, and disposition;
  • Provide distributors and their customers the tools necessary to address the $6 billion counterfeit epidemic;
  • Certification processes that eliminate industry fraud.
On Thursday, September 6th at 10:00 a.m. EST., the USNC/IECQ DAG will formally announce the programs and procedures at an invitation-only teleconference. For DAG membership information, or to request an invitation to the teleconference, contact Christina Clark at Christina.Clark@ecccorp.org or call: +1.541.847.0211.

Electronic parts and components

Electronics Distributors Online DigiKey recently dropped their catalogue in favour of on-line sales. This is typical of the developments in the electronics distribution industry. All the major franchised distributors are trying to give the buyer all the tools they need in one easy to use website, even helping them to approve components at the design stage using sites like element14. Buyers also want and expect more; they want live stock levels, pricing, packaging information like reel sizes etc. OEMsecrets have listened to the major distributors and thousands of buyers from large OEM's across the globe, and have developed a price comparison website where users can see millions of lines of inventory from all the major distributors with up to date stock levels, pricing etc. OEMsecrets is still developing the site further so the user will eventually be able to tailor the site to suit their specific requirements. Users will be able to send multiple requests to several distributors with just a few simple clicks. They will also be able to price thousands of items in just a few minutes using the BOM Machine, a tool that enables the user to upload their list of items. It then checks the items with the major distributors and returns the results with pricing and stock levels. The user can even price up the whole BOM in one currency even though the distributors may be in other countries. Recently OEMsecrets have removed the log in and made the site 100% FREE for anyone to use. OEMserets have also split the search results screen so it displays both the franchised and non-franchised inventory separately. There are no distributors in China listed on the website. All inventory is in-stock only, no available stock is advertised on the website. OEMsecrets is one of the fastest growing component sourcing websites online, with over 15 million line items of electronic components listed on the website. OEMsecrets lists global inventory feeds from the likes of DigiKey, Avnet, Arrow, Farnell, Future, Newark, Online Components etc and posts in-stock inventory from a number of independent distributors. OEMsecrets therefore caters for all active, passive, electro-mechanical and obsolete component requirements. It's OEMsecrets' intention to give the user all the information they may possibly need on one free and easy to use website in order to find and buy electronic components: www.oemsecrets.com
