Are Electronics Distributors Adapting to Developments in E-Commerce?

A large proportion of the electronics industry's franchised distributors have adapted their sales strategies to embrace the online revolution. However, there are still a large percentage of electronics distributors (authorised and non-authorised) who are failing to evolve and adapt to change. They are subsequently running the risk of being nullified by digital-savvy businesses. Developments in e-commerce and digital marketing have seen a number of catalogue distributors revenues catapult, as a result of optimising their online presence. Understandably, it is difficult decision for management to try something new, like pricing up inventory and setting up an e-comms site to sell all stock online. However, reasons such as 'too many background movements' and 'listings are too complicated to set up' are factors that the some of the industry's distributors have specified when questioned about selling and advertising their inventory online.

Surely this should be at the forefront of all marketing strategies? It could be said that the broker side of the industry has fallen well behind other sectors in terms of e-commerce developments. Are some of the Marketing bosses in the electronics industry set in their ways with their sales and marketing strategies, such with utilising paper catalogues and 'cold calling' techniques rather than selling and marketing their products online?

Evidently this has to change...We urge bosses in this position to look at the likes of Digi-key and Farnell (authorised), Freelance and Quest (non-authorised), who are adding more and more design tools and content, ultimately driving the visitor to their respective shopping carts for an online purchase. Now the flood gates are opening with both small non-franchised distributors to manufacturers direct re-designing their sites and adding product pages with shopping carts. So where is this all heading? Imagine looking for a part, and within seconds seeing all the stock available from not just the major distributors, but the manufacturers direct and even non-franchised distributors all in one place, all ready and waiting for your prized click to their cart. It dosen't end there, how about if you could see who has the cheapest price?

OEMsecrets has spent the last three years working on a portal ready to accept the complicated data feeds which include millions of images, price breaks, manufacturer codes the list goes on.They then process these huge data feeds and display the exact information the user requires in an instant. What's more is they are providing all this information for to the user for free. Visit www.oemsecrets.com for the electronics industry's first comparison search engine for electronics parts and components.

E-Commerce and Online Marketing in the Electronics Distribution Industry

OEMsecrets.com are proud to work with the majority of the industry's largest electronics distributors. Most franchised distributors have adapted their sales strategies to embrace the online revolution. However, there are a large percentage of the industry's distributors who are failing to optimise their online listings. Reasons such as 'too many background movements' and 'listings are too complicated to set up' are factors that the some of the industry's UK distributors have specified when questioned about selling and advertising their inventory online.

Our some of the Marketing bosses in the electronics industry set in their ways with their strategies, such with utilising paper catalogues rather than selling their inventory online?

Surely this has to change...e-commerce is not the future of electronic component distribution, its the present, if not the past.

Electronic Component Procurement Made Easy

OEMsecrets.com spells the end of "Dead End Sourcing"

All buyers have done it, they search for a part number on a component sourcing website and no results show, it's a dead end. In fact, many buyers will turn to Google, looking for scraps of information and sources, which can be contaminated from the counterfeit route. OEMsecrets.com have created an additional service when the dreaded "No Results Found" message appears, there is now a further option.

OEMsecrets.com have been working in partnership with a number of authorised distributors over the last few years, who offer a wider database of sourcing capabilities. Each distributor has a unique line card. The OEMsecrets.com team will match any enquiry up with a supplier that specialises in sourcing that particular manufacturer. With a simple 6 box form and the click of a button you can be contacted with a quote by an approved supplier from OEMsecrets. This is typical of a forward thinking website that is owned and run by individuals that have had decades of sourcing electronic components themselves and know the pit falls and frustrations of a parts search engine returning zero results.

To cater for all obsolete and hard to find component requirements from electronics buyers, OEMsecrets.com have also split screened the search results page to incorporate both franchised and independent distributors. Independent distributors can now list their in-stock inventory on the website. Electronics buyers can be assured that all inventory listed from independent distributors is in-stock only as regular quality checks are carried out to monitor and control this process. OEMsecrets.com is also working in concert with the Distributors Advisory Group (DAG) to combat counterfeit components in the industry.
